AI summary: Senior Product Designer owns the end-to-end member app experience, designing flows, surfaces, and interaction patterns for a healthcare platform integrated with clinical workflows.
9amHealth is redefining cardiometabolic care with a first of its kind, whole body approach to preventing and treating diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure, and hypertension. Founded in 2021 and backed by top tier investors including 7Wire Ventures, Human Capital, Founders Fund, and Define Ventures, we deliver custom care plans, fast medication delivery, and expert guidance that empower patients to live healthier lives.
We believe AI enabled health services will be among the biggest winners of this technology shift, and we’re building accordingly. We already use AI across the product: member facing agents, clinical copilots, automated triage, intelligent care workflows. Our goal is to bring the cost of healthcare down dramatically while providing an incredible experience for both our members and clinicians. AI isn’t a feature on our roadmap, it’s how we think about every feature on our roadmap.
We’re a Series B company with over 200 people, growing fast. Our product and engineering team is distributed across the US and Austria, and we’re scaling it significantly.
We’re hiring a Senior Product Designer to own 9amHealth’s member app, the daily touchpoint for people managing diabetes, blood pressure, cholesterol, or weight. You’ll design what our members see, what they tap, and how the experience responds.
The member app is tightly integrated with our EMR, which we built ourselves. Clinical data surfaces on the consumer side. Member actions trigger Care Team workflows. A “message your Care Team” button has a queue behind it. A surfaced lab value is the tip of a workflow. You’ll work primarily on the consumer surface, but you need to think across that seam, because your decisions shape the clinical team’s day.
This is a senior individual contributor role reporting to our Head of Design. You’ll work day-to-day with a full product squad: a product manager, front-end and back-end engineers, and QA. Our product and engineering team is distributed across San Diego and Vienna, and this role is based in EST for maximum overlap with both.
Own the member app end to end: flows, surfaces, interaction patterns, visual system.
Move from idea to working prototype in hours rather than sprints, using whatever tooling gets you there, including the AI-assisted tools that now sit in most senior designers’ workflows.
Stay close to our members, run research to understand what’s working, where they’re dropping off, and what moments in their journey matter most to get right.
Build and maintain the design system your teammates rely on, and that our AI tooling can consume reliably.
Partner closely with the clinicians, coaches, and care coordinators who use our EMR, so your consumer-side decisions improve their workload rather than adding to it.
Make the hard tradeoffs where member clarity, clinician workload, and business economics pull in different directions, and write the reasoning down so the team can hold you to it later.
A designer who has owned a consumer product end to end. You’ve carried a real member-facing product from an ambiguous problem to a shipped outcome with measurable results. You can point to what you shipped, what you deliberately left out, and what you’d do differently now.
You are fluent with modern design tooling, and that fluency includes the AI-assisted tools (Cursor, v0, Claude, Lovable, and the like) that have reshaped how senior designers work in the past two years. You have opinions about when their output is worth keeping and when it isn’t.
You know how to run research and turn it into decisions. Not just user interviews for their own sake, research that changes what you build or gives you the confidence to stay the course.
You’re comfortable designing in ambiguity. You can move fast without a complete brief, make defensible calls with incomplete information, and course-correct without drama when new data arrives.Strong written communication. The kind of designer who can defend a decision in two sentences and knows the difference between a tradeoff and an excuse.
You’ve shipped clinician-facing tooling or worked with an internally built EMR at a digital health company. The member app is your primary surface, but you’ll collaborate with the designers working on our EMR side, and that context raises the ceiling on what you can contribute. If you don’t have that background, tell us how you think about designing consumer products that sit on top of operational systems.
Compensation for this role is up to $175,000 base salary, with flexibility based on experience and overall qualifications.
